The Spindrift Hostel is the loving creation of Charlotte & Josh; a couple who quit the London corporate life in 2016 to travel the world and find their passion. They travelled for two years around Asia – exploring the lengths of Vietnam, the deep jungles of Borneo, the forgotten islands of Malaysia and six months travelling across the length and breadth of India. It was during their time in India, volunteering in hostels, that they felt ignited by the idea of starting their own little haven where backpackers could come together and revel in the backpacker lifestyle.
In 2017 they visited Sri Lanka and fell in love with its still rustic charm, untouched beaches and palm trees galore! They knew this was where they wanted to be & the idea of their hostel developed.
A year later in October 2018 the doors to Spindrift Hostel Weligama opened with a focus on community, social events & sharing the joy of travel. Spindrift Weligama won Hostelworlds Best Hostel in Sri Lanka 2020.
Charlotte & Josh’s passion for creating epic backpacker spaces continues to thrive and in March 2022 Spindrift Madiha was born!
